Painting skills can always be taught. In fact, training is a huge part of our life and process at VanDerKolk Painting. In fact, we favor the proper value system over talent. We can teach talent, but we can’t help much with changing a person’s value system. What we desire even more in our applicants are those attributes that can’t be taught: a willingness to work hard, go the extra mile for our clients, be ethical and honest, and reliable. That is the value system we embrace.

Pay Scales

We have a defined career ladder. The pay scales below are commensurate with your skill level. The increasing pay scales reflect more talent in the trade of painting and increased responsibility. Higher pay scales within the Lead Painter category and Project Leader categories reflect the ability to lead crews and manage a greater level of gross annual revenue totals with multiple painting crews.

  • Apprentices: $11-15/hr
  • Painters: $14-20/hr
  • Lead Painters: $17-24/hr
  • Project Manager: $20-30/hr
